These wheel-thrown cups are sold as a pair but are not identical in size or thickness as they are handmade items and I think consistency is boring. Made from a mixture of smooth stoneware and rough raku clays, the base of these cups are pleasingly rough to hold while the rim is smooth and comfortable for drinking. The cups are glazed in a warm toasty oatmeal coloured glaze.

Approximate sizes of the pieces are as follows: Diameter 8.5cm, Height 8.5-9.0cm. Just nice for a cup of tea, coffee or a good sized drink of water.

While making these cups I was thinking about digging in the dirt as a kid and finding little pieces of gravel in amongst the garden-soil. These pieces of gravel I would carefully sift out, arrange, and later press back into the soil for the tactile enjoyment of making indents and simply enjoying the texture of dirt. The enjoyment of dirt has never quite left me, it just shifted to clay. These cups are my thoughts about how we interact with the earth, how it shapes us and how we shape it, made manifest in ceramic form.

About my ceramics:

All pieces are unique and have their own subtle differences in form and colour. Items sold as pairs are not identical, but similar. I see this as a happy feature of handmade goods.

All glazes are food-safe and can be used as daily functional ware. White glazes and slip decoration may stain with use, as may the unglazed bases of items. Wash with regular dish soap and a sponge. Scouring may scratch the glaze. Dishwasher or microwave use not recommended.

All purchases are final, but if you are unhappy with your product, please contact me and I will see what I can do. Items will be carefully bubble wrapped and best care taken to ensure that they arrive to you safely. If anything arrives damaged, please contact me with a photo of the damage and I will do my best to find a solution. Exchanges or refunds are not accepted unless the item arrives damaged. Purchases will be packed and sent to you within 3-5 working days or available at the pickup location in Singapore if you chose self-collection. Once the item has been sent, you will get an email with delivery details or availability of pickup times and dates. If you do not receive an email within 5 working days of your purchase, please contact me.
